serpintine belt conversion - do I need a new PS pump

I bought a serpentine setup from a 94 truck. Unfortunately it did not come with a power steering pump.

I assume I cannot use my v-belt pump. Is this correct?

Is there any pumps that are better than others? What should I look for?

You could use it if it fits the bracket and you have the tools to change the pulley. But, for most people it will be easier to buy another pump. The main thing to look for is the hydroboost pump since it has more return fittings than the standard pump.

My serp setup will be here early next week, i will take a look at the pulley and my pumps. What does it take to replace a pulley on these things?

There is a special puller tool for removing and installing the pulley. A lot of parts stores have tool rental programs, and often have that particular tool.
