Based on the photo, can someone tell me the year and the paint code of the suburban I pulled this from? The catalyst was missing I believe it was an 89? Also, maybe an explanation of how best to decipher service code stickers?
Thanks

These are RPO codes, the emissions sticker and body tag in the engine compartment have paint codes and the VIN will tell you the year.

I see thank you. Looks like the vin is on the sticker on the top left, I suppose I can see if the dealer can get a paint code from searching the vin? I didn’t see a body tag or catalyst on the burb as it was a parts truck.

Too funny that’s the burb frankin5. Never thought to just search the vin! Doh.

pops 45 thanks for the info! That’s what I needed.

appreciate it fellas :waytogo:

If you want to do your own legwork and decipher your own, the RPO codes can be found in the parts manual you can download here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showpost.php?p=5621043&postcount=1

Note that GM recycled and/or used the same RPO for cars and trucks throughout the years, so some RPOs (like G80) mean different components in a car or truck, vintage, GVW, etc.

The "universal" RPO decoders arent terrible, but most seem based on a car RPO list, so there could be some RPOs that are different on a truck.

All I can say is wow! Thank you for the link, enormous amounts of good info in there and I definitely prefer to do my own legwork when feasible. I will be referencing that frequently as I move into wiring. Again thank you.
