Setting timing on 350 TBI...set to 0 deg but surging, wont run **UPDATE**

Re: Setting timing on 350 TBI...set to 0 deg but surging, wont run

I'd check in the tank as said before. I had the exact problem and the problem was the fudl pump had been knocked half way off the pick up providing insufficent fuel pressure. The surging was caused by the pressure regulator trying to compensate. - Doug

Still havin problems here...no sign of any vacuum leaks, replaced coolant temp sensor, tps sensor and IAC motor borrowed of a truck with known good parts, still nothing. any more ideas?

Re: Setting timing on 350 TBI...set to 0 deg but surging, wont run

its been in a friends shop all week, havent found a problem, but since its sounding more and more like some kind of vacuum leak, I'm heading home and going to change the intake manifold gaskets, see if that does anything. Sprayed carb cleaner all over them and the idle wont change, so im thinking its a leak on the underside of the gasket.

i've got a short on the O2 sensor wire, its getting 12 volts, causeing it to think its lean, adding gas, which makes it bag down...then the MAP sensor compensates. Gonna fix it over easter, then probably sell... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Jeez,
Sounds like problem fixed but only after you gave both testicles. Hard to believe short in that wire could cause so much trouble. Before you sell, maybe you should go blow off some steam or at least congratulate your perseverance.
