My question is with a shackle flip you get a 4 inch lift. What size shackles would i need to lift it another 2 inches? Im trying to avoid blocks at all costs.

4" = 4"

and wouldnt go to crazy with longer shackles unless you want mad flex.

i would do 4" flip and 2" springs.

I'm trying to keep my stock leaf pack as i don't really want to buy another set of leafs, money's tight for right now. Trying to find another way out of this mess i brought upon myself.

4in longer shackle will yeild that extra 2 inches of lift,or 2in longer shackle with an e-z inch block will set it straight too. Am running a belltec 2in lowering shackle for a stock 2wd with a the flip, the downside as i see it is that the shackle will hang below the imaginary line of departure angle. Soon enough i think ill get a 7in shackle and an e-zinch block so i can get that shackle out of my departure angle

What mess? Why do you need 6" anyway?

The mess i made when i started my project w/o enough research on spring length. I have a pair of 52" RC springs but the k-20 has 56" I put the 6" front springs on and there installed but now i have to cheaply solve how to get the back up to that height. I want to do a shackle flip which would give me a 4" and im trying to figure out if i need longer shackles to make up the other 2" or if i should add a couple of leafs onto the old pack from the RC rears. Another way im thinking of is if i could get 1" then i could also go with the 1" zero rate.

just get a 6" shackle from DIY4X or ORD depending on which flip you buy.. than a zero rate, again from Kert or ORD...

as much as i like ORD, i prefer Kerts flip and DEFINITELY prefer his x-tied shackle over the stock style internal shackles...

so you can't go with with a 0-rate and your flip/stock springs? That's 5". Then do like what was said and go like 5" shackle or something

as a bonus, you can move your axle back an inch or so, but driveshaft length comes into play on that one.

So if im understanding this right, The DIY shackle flip and a 6 inch shackle would net 5" total lift? The zero rate would provide the extra 1"?

you sir need to search. or give us all the info in the begining.

gm frames of this vintage are easy to play with.

take your stockers out of the rear.

install the 52" lift kit springs.

remove the rear shackle hangers and move them forward 4" the holes will prob be there. i made a 1/2 ton take 56" springs via this method. just moved the hanger back 4"

use 7/16 grd 8 bolts and crimp nut lock nuts. bolt them on.

then guess what now you can use 52" springs. its that easy.

did it on this k30 here in the pic. 6" rc springs all 4. then zero rate/easy inch blocks all 4 to strech the wheelbase. then 1.5" body lift and 38x12.50x16.5 tires. no rubbing at all.

Im running 52" six inch front RC springs. The back I want to stay 56". Like I said in my build thread, If i have to grind off the old rear hangers then It makes more sense to get rid of the weak stock one's and replace them. From everything i have read so far the shackle flip + 56" + w/e length shackles seems to be preferred. Im trying to figure out how long of a shackle i need to at least get the rear to 5" lift. FWIW the RC 52" rear springs are 6 leaf's and the stock 56" one's are 8 leaf.

a 6" shackle nets you about .75 to an inch... all depends on what shackle angle ya run when ya put on the flip...

So am I correct in saying that a DIY 4inch shackle flip with 6 inch shackles along with a zero rate setup would net approximately 6" of lift -/+ .5 inch?

o.k. post 6 in here said 52" 6" springs. not were thay were. figured rear .

if you can find a spare set of front hangers for the rear springs off a 1/2 or 3/4 ton frame you can do a cheep flip kit then just longer shackles.

What about taking the 56" top leaf on and swapping it onto the 52" leaf pack and replacing the center pin with a longer one? I can still do the DIY flip but im just curious as to everyone's thoughts on this route.

Exactly!

The flip will yield a 4 inch lift, since the stock shackle is 4" long, moving it 180 degrees is the same as moving it 8", thus 4 inches of lift. For another 2 more inches, you will need a set of 8" shackles WITH the flip.

I personally think thats a bit long, but you be your own judge.

I agree with the shackle length, Im just going to shackle flip it with the 6 inch shackles and a zero rate and go from there.
