Shackle Flip. What is it?

www.sky-manufacturing.com has a nice kit available for less money then the ORD kit. I personally am against the "through the hanger" shackle flips. I think they are 100% ghetto fab and would never consider running one on my truck. If you use the idea and do some quality reinforcment of the stock shackle after a ghetto flip then I don't have a problem with it. Cutting a hole in the bottom of the shackle and just running it like that is ghetto in my book.

if ghetto gets ya over the rocks.......

Though I'd recommend gusseting a through the hanger flip.

Since when were we about looks anyway? My motto often is "ugly but functional" :cool1:

What exactly is a "through the hanger" flip? Which style is ORD and Sky? I will be doing a lift in a month or so with the flip, so Im gonna be ordering parts soon. Thanks

Where you cut a hole in the bottom of your stock hanger and put the shackle up through the hole.

ORD and SKY's kits are true shackle flips using new hangers. This is the best method in my opinion unless you are a decent fabricator and can make your own.

You don't need to know how to fabricate to use a pair of these. Just a drill and a few hand tools.

Just be sure you put in new bushings all around. Greaseable ones would be best.

i tried the thru the hanger homeade flip, rode stiff as a board. problem is the shackle angle is straight up and down with this method. the ORD flip moves the hanger forward 1" to create a better angle. best thing i've ever put on my truck. install can be a bitch for a novice, since you have to drop the tank and remove the factory rivets. if your doing this with someone who has experience it can be done in 3-4 hrs. i'd also recommend getting the fully greaseable bushing kit from ORD while your at it.
