im looking in taking out the blocks and adda leaf in the rear of my stepside, i have 8 inch front springs..whats the best way, 4inch shackle flip with 4 inch spring..? any ideas guys..? also who sells the best set up..? i need a lil help with this, i wana do it asap.....

I think that more people on this site like the DIY shackle flip the best. Not sure why. I have the ORD 4" flip with the stock rear leaves and some 6" lift shackles on my half ton truck and it was pretty level with the front 4" springs until I mounted a heavy bumper and winch. I liked the ORD unit because it was one piece (versus about two or three for the DIY) and it was powder coated. I don't know if the DIY kit comes painted or not. The lift shackles I got from Kert weren't painted.

The only thing I don't like about the ORD shackle flip is that you can't install a receiver hitch unless you grind a lot of metal off of the hitch or your new shackle hanger. Someone who has the DIY would know if this is a problem with that one also.

I think that 3" springs with 6" shackles (which would give about an inch of lift and improve shackle swing and your ride quality over the stock shackles) and the ORD shackle flip would be my choice if were my truck.

I'm using ORD's 4"shackle flip but I won't knock Diy4x's kit. They make quality parts, too. I'm partial to ORD because they've been around a while and have torture-tested parts of top quality.

I don't think you will go wrong either way. Nothing but good reviews both ways. What was said about the reciever hitch issues is a concern, but not a major one with the ORD brackets. I have a hitch on my Suburban and will have to grind a chunk off of each of the brackets for fitment, but not enough to sacrifice the integrity of the part.

As for getting your rear to match the 8" front, yes, a 4" shackle flip + 4"springs will get you close but it will probably droop a bit in the rear. You generally need 1"-2" more lift out back in these trucks to get them to sit level. I'd recommend using ORD's 1"zero-rate add-a-leafs or DiY4x's EZ-inch under the rear springs.

ORD also makes a 2" Shackle flip that you could use with 6 or 8" rear springs if you wanted to.

Also, Diy4x makes 14BFF spring perches that are 1" taller than stock that will enable you to get an extra inch of height that way

No Diy's doesnt come painted unless you request it.

The major upside to DIY4x's shackle flip that I believe makes it superior to ORD's is that is uses regular straight shackles rather than the more expensive tapered ones.

I have 8" front springs, tapered zero rates with the axle moved 1.5" forward and 4.5" shackles on the front. I just leveled the rear this morning with diy flips, 3" blocks bolted to the spring packs moving the axle back 2" and 6" shackles. The truck sits just a slight bit lower in the rear.

I have the ORD's on my K30, but I really like the DIY's because they use a standard shackle. Nothing wrong with the ORD, it is a very nice piece, but if I were to buy it now, I would buy the DIY.

I run 8" Superlift springs up front and after my recent suspension overhaul out back it sits about an inch higher in the rear BUT I don't have a bed or any weight on it so if you run a bed it'd be perfect to match up to an 8" front lift...
I run a DIY4X Shackle flip with 6" shackles and Ford 57" springs with the long side forward... I got the flip for about $200 with shackles and the springs were $80 at the pick-n'-pull... granted the springs are so soft (especially with a shackle flip and long shackles) so you'll probably spend a little more down the road on bump stops, straps (if you like to jump) and a traction bar of some sort but it's a nice ride that can be pieced together for fairly cheap.

my local a&a auto parts store, a buddy works there and i use to when i was in high school so i get good deals and look up my own parts...

ok avery4jc.....what ford truck has those springs, did they bolt right up.....? and you said the diy and 6inch shackles..? i like that idea alot, i wonder can i move the shock brackets with the diy brace and put longer shocks on like you have.....since i wana leave on the bed....or what size shackles and lift springs to make 8inch if i use chevy lift springs..?

stock shackles are 4.5". With 2.5" rear springs under a 4"shackle flip with 6.0" shackles you will be right at 8" of lift in the rear. If you want it to sit level, use an ORD zero-rate

To mount the 56s, what do you have to do, just turn the hanger the other way when you install it?

yea, flip the brackets around and swap sides. At least, with 64" springs. I didn't think they had to be flipped around with 56's

I got mine off of a '94 F150 but they are on all kinds of 1/2 ton fords... just take a tape measure and fine some in good shape.
You could always inboard your shocks... it'll give you the travel you need and keep it tucked under the bed.

The brackets go in the "right" sides for stock length springs...
They go on the "wrong" side for Chevy 56's (and obviously Ford 57's)
To run the longer 64's you have to put the brackets on the wrong side AND move the front hanger forward as well.
