I have a 81 sub and want to do the shackle flip on my rear springs. A buddy of mine said the I could cut an opening the size of my shackle in the bottom of the brace and bolt the shackle in upside down through the hole. Does this sound right to you guys? It seems to me that cutting that hole would weaken it.

I agree with the weaking. If you want to save money, grab the front brackets off a full size truck, like an 85 3/4 for instance. Bolt those up in place of your rears and bolt up your shackle "upside down". There are many guys that have done this and might be under "homemade shackle flip" or something like that. This would be a far better way of saving money.

Awsome pic. Thanks guys for the info. I actually have access to those brakets. So the brackets bolt on and off and are not welded on? and does the shackle flip make the rear tires look off center in the wheel wells from the side? It looks like changing the angle of the springs moves the axle or am I wrong in this?

the brackets are riveted on from the factory, you need to either grind the heads off, or use a air chisel (my prefered method) to cut the heads off, or a torch. you can then drill new holes and use bolts to bolt them on where you want them.

thanks> i have the brackets and am going to attept this projecy. i got to get rid of these lift blocks and helper leaf. they are making the ride rough as hell. Wish me luck and thanks again.
