i shackle lifted the front of my k5. if i weld the shackles to the frame and brace them will the weld hold when i go mudding?

what the heck are you talking about?

dont be welding any flexing part of the suspension to the frame bad bad news.

x2.

The shackle was designed to move and flex. If you weld it up solid (and it holds) your springs will not flex at all the the resulting ride quality would be comparable to a shopping cart with square wheels.

Maybe he means that there is now a shackle at BOTH ends of the springs, and the front ones are welded to the frame.

Sounds sexy.... need a pic for sure!

:usaflag:

I think he is talking about the CUCV lifting shackle.

Take the square tube and welding it to the lower edge of his frame and then putting the D ring on it.:dunno:

maybe instead of shackle, he meant SPACKLE....yeah, that's it...

seriously dude...WTF are you talking about...

the front of the spring and the rear of the front spring have shackles. i want to weld the front shackles to the frame and not weld the rear just like it is stock.

OK, OK. We really need a picture of your setup. It is clear now what you are asking but we ALL really want to see this. Somehow post a pic or since you can't post a pic email me a pic at [email protected] and I will post it up.

I don't see why it wouldn't hold up mudding . Several guys have welded drop brackets for the front frame section to get more lift . And they go rockcrawling . One even used a whole section of rectangle tube that doubles as a winch mount .

Its all in the welding though , clean clean clean clean the parts of any paint and oils , and get good penetration .

Heres a shot of jason4x4's rig where you see the rectangle tube that drops the front hangers down and mounts his winch
