I want to do a s or 4" lift on a 78, and shackles seem to be the best bet. It is my understanding they just work in the back of 4WD? What length shocks need to replace them? Also, where is the cheapest wholesale site too buy shocks? Do they sell front only lift kits? The springs were replaced 10 years ago, but may need to be replaced now as well.

ORD carries shackle flips for the rear of the truck for 4" of lift, you will have to buy 4" lift springs for the fron to match the rear, and ORD carries those also. There flip is very high quality stuff and they are good to work with.

You can get a good shackle flip from Sky Manufacturing for $50 less then ORD. There customer service is better then ORD's also. Sky is a great shop to deal with.

Front lift springs can be obtained from Tim (84ChevyK10) or your local 4x4 shop.

So just replace springs? What shocks, so farr 100 for rear, plus 4 shocks, ples springs for front

Run whatever front shock the manufacturer recommends for the front lift, and don't forget new ubolts in the cost of the front.

Rear you will only need the reversal kit, shocks, and possibly shims to shim the pinion of the truck down for driveshaft angle. For rear shocks I don't know what exactly you will need but I would be shocks for a 6" lift would work well.

The ORD flips are great. Easy to install (with the gas tank out) and they fit perfectly. Can't say enough good things about them. ORD also got them to me quickly and answered all of my newbie questions without hesitation. I got rear shocks with a lift that I bought that came with blocks and just tossed the blocks in the parts box.

Agree, can't say enough good things about ORD. There customer service was #1 in my opinion. Top quality products, and top quality service. I highly recomend giving them a call and have them put together a complete "kit" with everything you'll need.

So 3 for ORD, anyone else use sky-manufacturings? Also, are th shocks in that ebay store any good? They seem too good to be true price wise. There better then rough country shicks, right?

ORD makes good stuff but so does Sky. Sky is also cheaper, but equal in quality easily. Sky also has great service. I have all of Sky's crossover stuff. Pick up the Sky flip kit a set of 4" Tuff Country springs and some shocks u-bolts and brake lines...and you are set.:)
