shackle mount

Was thinking about building a bumper to mount my winch. I was going to use 3/8 plate as the support running from the frame and have a shackle mount at the opposite end. Is 3/8 plate strong enough or should I use 1/2 plate? I will be mounting a 8274.

3/8th is plenty. Braced of course!
