Ok well i have an 88 Chevy Suburban at times when i give it gas i hear a rattle its not knocking but more of a rattle just wondering if anyone has had this problem any info would be great before i start tweaking on it and take everything apart. Thanks.:dunno:

If it sounds almost like marbles bouncing around in your engine, its probably pinging. AKA spark knock. AKA preignition.

I've also used the term "nickels in a coffee can", but I like marbles bouncing around too.

The description sounds like pinging though. I'd check the timing first, and maybe try a higher grade of fuel to see if it helps (or octane booster).

Ok also i failed to mention it started after i dropped the transmission pan i put it a new filter gasket and fluid oh and also changed out the transfer case fluid with atf but yeah after that is when i noticed it and i havent used the 4w drive so idk but yeah thanks guys and sorry for not mentioning this

Oh yeah and i worked for an oil n lube place before so ive done this before.

Check your timing. Mine is set 4˚ before TDC i think. Factory acceptable range is 0-4˚ before, TDC, but mine pings like yours at zero.
