ok i know lots of you have done this and i would like to know what the advantages and disadvantages of it are. i know cost wise it is cheaper but is the flip with stock springs better than just doing lift springs front and rear? i do not do any rock climbing all my wheeling is in mud ruts and trailsone truckis a mud boger we race and the other is a suburban i trail ride,dd, and tow with.please coment soi know what way to go. my suburban has 6"lift springs in front and blocks in rear with bad sag in rear. so i'm looking to either go flip and better springs or 6" lift springs. please help guide me in the right direction to go.as the suburban is the main ride. the truck has only 3"body lft and cutting to fit the 35s but i'm going to 38 also for a different class in the pits. so i ned more lift for it as well. thanks in advance for all input i get.

Shackle flip gives a better ride with more articulation.

I did the shackle flip and love the overall ride difference. I am using EZ ride fronts 4" lift and stock rear springs. I also have zero rates front and back.

The rear zero rates were to move the axle back b/c of the shackle flip.

Just curious, why would the shackle flip give a better ride?

If one needs new rear springs, would it be better to do a 2" flip and 2" EZ's to match the 4" front EZ's?

Your springs don't have to be as stiff to get a 4" lift.

I removed my 2" blocks and went up to a 4" lift. I loved the way it rides compared to before. It's no Lexus, but it beats the way it was.

The worst part is pivoting the gas tank if you have a burb/blazer. Other than that its just knocking some heavy duty rivets (I know thats not the right word but I'm drawing a blank) out and boring the holes for bolts.

if I wan to atempt this myself what wouldi need to do prep wise and parts ?

An angle grinder with 4" cutoff disc would help for removing the rivets. Slice the head off and pound the shaft out of the frame. Other than that a drill, hammer, and a torque wrench would help.

this sounds like a very good thing to do instead of 4" lift blocks, any pictures on this??
Thanks

or torch, that is very effective... thats how i did my drop hangers on my Sierra

I have the tools. ... Can I find instrucions. And how much time will the truck be out ? What about he gas tank on a blazer?

its probably in your way of the shackles i would assume thats why they say tilt it. depending on whether or not you use a torch i would just drop the gas tank

The instructions are usually included, but you really just take the old brackets off and bolt the new ones on.

I didn't take my gas tank off, but I did have to undo the staps on one side to lower it down a few inches to get a wrench on the bolts for the bracket. Just do one side at a time.

You can do it in 1-2 days.
