Shaving glass and sun visor bushings? What?

I got a weird one ya’ll.
I want to shave ~1/8” off a piece of mirror to fit on over my passenger side mirror. Anyone try this before? Thinking my belt sander, fine grit, maybe some candle wax? Have no idea but I’m excited if this could work.

Also, I got sun visors from the PO for my 64 Nova. The bushing/sleeves are shot or missing. I searched on Evilbay. Some plastic, some rubber, some both. Not sure what I’ll getting into. The blazer didn’t have this stuff. Anyone have luck ordering this kind of thing?

Wouldn't a belt sander work?

Belt sander clamped stationary. Gloves holding the glass. Done it. Eats a belt pretty fast for the material being liquid. Do not let it get hot. Go slow.
