No, I have been caught on that lip a few times. It ain't easy to drag across a rock on it gets caught.

I do get what you are saying.... maybe for rocks... but for us in the mud.. yeah you can high center the axles... however mostly the first couple of inches will at least "give" for you to drag the axle over.....

I just think it is so funny how we worry about that what.. 1" extra clearance???

put some mog axles under there and gain TONS of clearance

is a shaved 14bolt really needed????

Yes. I was resitant to shave mine......I kinda liked the big angled look of a 14BFF.

But, then this happened:

The temp that day was 18*F and the ground was frozen solid. I got hung up on the big fat lip on the bottom of the axle. Before I go wheeling again, I will shave mine.

When you shave a 14BFF, you are not only gaining the extra clearance, you are removing that step....making the bottom smooth.
