Shavings in the crank

I put my 440 together recently, thought i did everything right and kept it clean...but, I took one of the rod caps off to double check it was on right and i noticed grooves running down the middle. So, I decided to tear the engine down again becuase I thought i wasn't clean enough and i was worried about it. Come to find out when i get the rods off, there are still shavings inside the oil passages of the crank...WTF. I had a crank grind and polish and stuff but i sat there and waited while it was hot tanked...I'm going to go talk to the machinist tomarrow and see what he says. Surprisingly i'm not that mad.

You still have to clean the oil passages even after it is hot tanked.

Clean EVERYTHING before reassembly....NOW YOU KNOW

I find that i learn from my own mistakes way to often.
