Does anyone have any idea what happened to Shawn and the Potent Rodent Blazer?

I was cruisin the net and found some pics of his K5. One of my favorites still today...

What became of it?

Shawn is into an "alternative lifestyle" these days.

He has the blazer torn down and sitting in moth balls. He has some parts to complete it and still needs a few more.

I hear that his new lifestyle takes all of his money and time.

By "alternative lifestyle" I mean go fast import cars and mods to them.

Hmm, I thought you were talking about that cooking or baking club he is/was in.

The last time the "Rodent" was out, I towed it home for him.....Been sitting ever since. Maybe 5 yrs..Hes had a few cool engines for it but they never make it in before the plans change. There is now a way cool SBC for it. Hopefully he loses the panties and puts this one in. Hopefully hes done playin with "rice"........

crazy, I was just thinking about his k5 this weekend and the image he had on it of the rat on wheels

I wonder if the Blazer is still a Blazer or it its cut up and no longer looks like a K5?

I just saw this thread... 7 months late... :doah:

First of all, I wanted to apologize to everyone about MIA for SO long. Unfortunately, the K5 has been at the bottom of list with all the other vehicles. Between the K30, Typhoon, Eclipse and now the Evo, there hasn't been much progress going with the K5 and unfortunately it has just been sitting in the garage and collecting tons of dust. I sold the K30 about 4 months ago and now the Typhoon so maybe now I can focus on the K5. It mostly comes down to time and money. I have been slowly buying parts for it I just haven't been in a huge hurry and would rather not put the stuff on a credit card.

As for the K5 history it goes like this-
-Blew up the 496 engine (5th engine) and I needed a long break from the Blazer
-Right after that, I lost my job and was totally broke- forced to sell all engine and transmission parts including a new 540 engine
-2 years go by and I was able to save up for another 496 but didn't like the way it was built and changed my mind. Went with a stout 400/AFR combo
-Purchased a built 400sbc with forged components last spring
-Purchased AFR Eliminator heads last summer
-Rebuilt the manual 4L80 for the 3rd friggen time!
-Purchased Accel DFI gen 7 last year
-Currently looking for a 1000cfm throttle body, large injectors, headers and manifold with bungs
Yes the Blazer is still intact and has all of its sheet metal.

As for the F&F comment, yeah its true. I've been messing around and racing my rice which includes an STi, multiple turbo DSM's and now an Evo. Its currently the fastest Evolution in Colorado and runs 10.2 @ 139 which isn't too bad considering we're a mile high in altitude. The huge wing has been removed and you won't find any gay rice boy mods done to it. The little fukker hauls ass and thats all I care about. I'll put it up against any car on the street. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Camaro's, Corvette's, Nova's, Chevelle's but there's nothing like having AWD and 640whp push you back in the seat plus I'm able to drive it all winter in the snow. The AWD and 4 doors just make it more practical. If I could afford it, I'd have a newer Z06 in the garage but the Evo will have to do for now...

I'd really like to get the K5 going this winter. Now that racing season is over, it should allow more time to get it going.

Sorry again for being gone so long. :(

Thats sounds like a lifetime full of stuff Shawn. Glad to have you back, and the K5 in your sights. That EVO sounds pretty badass, and I can appreciate the accelleration of it. 10.2 in BAndimere? is haulin'.

We have a Shawn siting!

Sounds like a lot of work man, good luck with it. Stay close and keep us informed. Don't bother with ORC/Chevy...it's just painful now.:doah:

I feel bad letting the K5 sit so long and have it always on the back burner. She deserved to be on the trail a long time ago. I came SO close having to sell the K5 along with the engine when I was down on my luck but it all worked out. Thanks on the Evo and yes, that was at Bandimere. After I fix some boost leaks and crank it up to 40psi, It should be well over 700 at the tires and in the 9's.

Thanks man! Yeah, I haven't been over to ORC in ages. Its good to see some familiar names and I'll be posting a build thread on bringing the K5 back from the dead. Can't wait to take my daughter wheeling /camping come spring!

Shawn,

Good to see you back around here! :waytogo:

Don't suppose you have any links to vids of the Evo in action???

:usaflag:

Shawn, Shorts rides herd on the noobs over on ORC but really it's dead, even she admits it.

Yep, drey, dhcomp, desertrat, rj, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few are over here. "The great migration."

I need to get over and see if I can still login...

Hmmmmmm... We used to carry 1000 CFM billet throttle bodies; I wonder if I can find one around? What size injectors do you need?

TortillaMan approves! Not even a 2 foot tall wing could save him.... :haha:
That was against a 700-800hp Supra. The Evo is in full street trim with full interior (not gutted), street legal drag radials with E85 fuel.

Thanks Phil! Let me know you come across any and how much. The price I found at Summit was around $450 for the 4 barrel 1000cfm Holley TB and I was thinking 40-50lb injectors. It would be nice to have more injector available if I decide to add a turbo later on. This will be going on a taller single plane with 8 injector bungs.
