well, i got the holley truck avenger, and after 6 months, she made her maiden voyage today!! still have some qwerks to tweek.

1. paul (ryoken) had the quadrajet close to being timed, and with the timing light it was lining up great. now with the holley on there, i cant even see the line, but it seems to be close to where she wants to be timing wise. is my timing light off maybe?

2. after a couple of blocks, the choke light came on with a buzzing noise. choke is not stuck open, could it be the wire that used to hook into the quadrajet behind the throttle?

3. where is the best place to check the vaccume. i tested in one spot and it read about 10 1/2. want to make sure im doing it right.

i think thats it for now. heres a couple of pics of the final install.

All that Edelbrok stuff and you go and cheat on her with a Holley carb /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Looks pretty clean man /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

i was planning on edelbrock, but i read a lot of reviews, and they all said the truck avenger was the way to go. it looks nice at least /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

Looks good man, how did swaping that vacuum line work out? The best place to check vacuum is at that lower port in the front of the carb . 10.5"is kinda low but if you have a crazy cam it sounds about right. You may need to run a vacuum canister though.also are your timing gears set strait up or advanced? that can through off you timing mark 2.

Good luck buddy ,swing past with it when you got it purring.

You were in the right to go with that carb. I would have gotten me one but the Q jet was cheaper. FREE, well with a trade in /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

joe, not sure about the timing advance. it has me really worried that i cant see my painted line at all. swiching the vaccume lines seemed to work well. thanks a lot!!

ill keep you updated
