Has Anybody ever bought this and used it. im thinking of buying it but to me it doesnt look very quality.
My plan would be to mount my cb up there and all my switches for my lights and things. then also throw lights on the backside to light it up so i could use it as a shelf like it was meant for.

If someone else makes one like this, like if like diy4x or ord or someone like that makes one thatd be awesome i would much rather have one like that.

let me know

I can barely keep my visor from falling in my lap when offroad and it is bolted on! I personally am not fond of the idea of "loose" items sitting on a shelf over my head while driving, especially offroad.

I've never used one. I think the CB idea sounds good. Seems like anything you put up there would have to be strapped down. I'm just imagining objects falling on my head while driving. Description does say Heavy Duty Extruded aluminum. Also made in the USA. I didn't really see a weight rating???

yeah i wouldnt keep anything up there while offroading thats for sure and yeah maybe it is stronger than it looks. i guess im not really planning on putting anything heavy up there. just mounting the switches and a cb.

i was just looking at the pic and it looks like there is a lip on the front so it would hold stuff up there for normal driving. still wouldnt keep stuff up there while offroading. i like the way my face looks. haha

I would guess if you were more than five foot, it would block your vision somewhat. Looks like it hangs down a good five to six inches.

I had one of those in my first K5, that was 16 or so years ago :doah: :D .
What I can remember, it worked ok, it really didn't have that much room on it, I would also tend to lose small items on it. It also makes you remount you visors, and IIRC they were not nearly as effective and the angle is different so you could no longer use them in the side position( along the window) they hung down on an angle.
Overall I wasn't really impressed with the shelf .

well ****t guys. thanks for the responses. looks like i wont be getting one. ill figure out another place to mount my cb. got any good places? and the switches are super easy. i can put those anywhere im not too worried about them yet.

cb mounted on the front of the console seems perfect.

well that would work if i had a center cosole. i got rid of mine when i redid my interior. my seats dont fold forward now because i got new one out of a 4 door chrysler 300. so the only way into the back in thru the middle. so any others. thats what i was thinking until i had to get rid of it.

never thought of that. im going to work on the blazer in a bit. ill look and see how hard it would be to do that. or if i could make it look clean enough to look good

Do you have any plans on caging it? If so Ryokens over head mount built into his cage is pretty bad azz :pimp:

im definitely not caging this truck. im planning on buying a suburban this winter pulling the body off and building a crew cab with a tube box built into the cage. for that build im definitely doing what Ryoken did. his overhead console is sick.

Anybody have any pics of how this shelf looks through the windshield?

I used to want one of these, but then realized that the visors would not work against the side windows anymore.

I had one of the "shelf its" in my 97 dodge cummins. It did cut down on the view up top, and I did hit my head on it once or twice (i think it was from getting in and out of the truck, not while driving). The visors don't work as well with it on, especially since they are now mounted 2-4" lower.

On the plus side, I had my CB (full size galaxy) mounted in the middle with no problem. Because of the cool overhead CB look, I suffered through all the other annoyances. They are stout, so no worries about holding the CB up there. It was difficult mounting the CB to it, since any screws going down would be exposed. I think I put bolts in from the bottom.

It was also great for my cassette tapes and copenhagen... :)
