She\'s gonna blow!!!

Last week as I was preparing for a trip to California when /forums/images/icons/confused.gif my truck started making an unGodly sound. It sounds like it wants to throw a rod. While driving around town it developed a knocking sound which grew louder and louder. Now I'm afraid to start it for fear of oil going all over if she blows. Does anyone have an educated guess on what it is? It has about 124,000 miles on it and I got her from a fish and game auction. I've only had it a few months so that's all the history I know. Except I had 'er tuned-up last month.

Re: She\'s gonna blow!!!

Guess what, if someone else got rid of it.
Because they didn't want to do any motor work.
If what you say is a rod knock, your ready for a rebuild.
catch it now! like a bad tooth; in your head.
the sooner you have it worked on, the less the damage will occur.
if you've ever seen what a broken rod can damage. <the block is usually scrap metal.

good luck,

Agreed, my buddy destroyed a 396 when he had to pry the piston out of the side of the block due to a bad rod /forums/images/icons/frown.gif Get it fixed now while your block is still intact. Hopefully its something simple like a valve knocking.

oh ya! 30/30 cam
a very interesting sound a push rod off the rocker
but still on the lifter will make!
when it hits the valvecover
sounds scary as $hit!
