the auto trans will most likely have a 203, and a stick will have a 205. i through the 208/241 in there for SEARCH material /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

That is not correct for the NP205. It is as follows:

Dash
4Lo
N
2Hi
4Hi
Seat

In 1973 you really only have 2 choices, the NP203 or NP205. The NP205 is easy to ID because it has the small circular cover with 3 bolts holding it on.

I wish there was a way to post a pic of my rig ..... I am going to join next payday ... but just want to know what ya all think of it ......oh well

if you have a 2wd position then you have a 205, if no 2wd position on the handle knob then ytou have a 203,

203 have positons listed on the knob only, 203 trucks do not have manual hubs, they are permanently in 4x4 mode all the time no matter what position you put the shifter into, except neutral of course

203 cases are iron just like 205 but the 203 rear output housing extension is aluminum

this is going to sound bad ..... I have no knob... therefor no idea ..... all I know is dash to seat positions and there are 4 dont know where I am at

I have pics posted showing the linkages in all 4 different positions on the 205. It's in the tranny conversion album. Also a lot of pics of the case, you should be able to recognize things if you study it for a while.
