shift rails stuck in 4 hi or 4 low. after changing out puts

so after I swapped in a rear output fixed yolk and a 32 spline front output np205 is stuck in 4 wheel drive I can't get the shift rails to move is this normal for it being dry? with no fluid moving through it.neither of the shift rails will move. or what did I do wrong before I have to take it all apart

They can be hard to shift.

But they are also directional, and if you install them pointing the wrong way it will lock things up.

I learned you have to move them at the same time kinda I didn't have that center linkage in and I was trying to move them individually with a triple stick setup. I feel dumb now lol

Yea, I was installing the triple stick and was trying to push the fwd shift rod in when it was bottomed out and trying to move the rwd shift rod out while the front was engaged and it wouldn't let me move the rear until the frontvwas in neutral
