Well it's something synthetic I think, a plastic of some sort. It's funny this came up, cause I just did three pool ball shifters last week at home. Not quite as pretty as roadnotca's though.

are you tapping the ball itself or inserting a threaded sleeve?

I tapped the balls themselves. They tend to like to chunk out and crumble a bit, but going slow enough, and with threads as large as 5/8 course, it came out fine. They mount on the rod as secure as they need to.MattK said:
