Well the long linkage bar from the column down to the tranny is rubbing on my headers, you really gotta pull hard to get it into OD, and i dont think i can pull it all the way down to 1st. What can I do?? Maybe take it off and shave an eighth inch off with a grinder???:dunno:

Sorry no pics, ill snag one after I go down to the shop later.

Well since I don't see it I can only guess how the problem is but you could make a slight bend in that rod and readjust the linkage to get back to the right spot for shifting, and I am only talking about a slight bend like an arc to clear the headers.:dunno:

Just take a ball peen hammer and hit your exhaust.....:D
The only reason one puts headers is for the free flowing exhaust, so I am guessing it's a joke, but just in case he doesn't realize it, yeah don't do it.:thumb:

Haha yah I got it lol, ive never adjusted linkage before so I guess ill have to look into that, i just didnt know if it would be safe to put a small bend in it or if it will eff everything up. What im most worried about is going up the dunes or something and have so much tension on the linkage with the motor movement and such that it knock it out of gear, that could be scary.

Yeah you can have a bend in it, not much pressure there, but when you bend it it will get out of adjustment and you need to compensate, the end of that rod has a bolt, you losen i and slide it out to get it back where it should be.
Don't go overboard, just a slight arc to give you a little clearance, and don't make sharp bends, just a slight ARC.

Adam, I had the same thing happen on my truck when I put the headers in. Put a a little bit of a bend in it like Iceman said and you should be good to go
