On a '91 Blazer with a 4L60 and 5.7 liter.

On a dead stop or at a stop sign when I begin to accelerate, first gear does not shift out as soon as it should. The engine will rev up until I let off the pedal slightly and then it shifts to 2nd gear. 2nd does the same thing going up to 3rd but as it goes faster, everything is fine.

Whats up with this? I'm asking here before I go spending money on something that won't fix it and find out its something else.

Dumb question:

How's the fluid level/quality?

hey Capt. This is caused by whatever signals your tranny you have it floored is stuck. In other words if a detent cable is used it is stuck in the extended mode. with motor off rapidly slam the pedal to the floor five times and see if it frees and runs correctly.

I'm gonna have to agree with bailey. Your TV cable is stuck in the wide open position. There should be a second cable attached to the throttle body below the throttle cable. Take it off the linkage and try to move it in and out. It should move freely. If it doesnt, try WD40 and let it soak a little while. If it still doesnt move, make a trip to the local parts store and get yourself another one. Search for "tv cable" on the forums to find out how to adjust if you end up getting another one.:D
