I maybe needing to ship a TH400/203 combo about 1700mi. I've never done this before any how to's/advice/suggestions/comments would be appreciated!

Try forwad air they will be the cheapest becasue that combo will be to heavy for FED EX or UPS.

Look in the phone book for an LTL freight company, probably going to cost ~200 bucks. You might want to find a good sturdy pallet and strap the trans/tc to it and maybe crate it.
