I want to build the most well rounded bov (bug out vehicle)

Start by assessing where you are going to bug out with this, and what the terrain will dictate that you need...

What's your starting platform?
 
Older 6.5 diesel trucks are supposed to be mostly EMP proof, if that's your cup o tea.
 
BOV =bicycle ,or maybe a motorcycle,but you still need fuel for that

Yep. "Well-rounded" depends 100% on what you are trying to accomplish. For @Blue85, that meant self-contained overland camping. Living in the field. For @76zimmer, he built his truck as a rock-crawling trailer queen. The three of us went on the same camping trip, but Dave had to undo several of his mods to make his rig more road-worthy (and rainproof!), while Luke's truck acted like it was purpose-built for such (because it was). And my farm truck acted like...well...a farm truck. Much better at hauling lumber than either of the others, but not at all set up for the rock gardens that Dave likes to play on. Nor did either rig ride as smoothly as Luke's. 3 different strategies, 3 different results.

I'm thinking about un-removing the top, doors, and then having to fab up a rear window insert to work with the truck gate. Not saying it was a huge deal, just that the trip was a new use for a purpose-built rig that hadn't needed rainproofing at dunefest.

Yes, I did ride in the Maiden, and I'm not complaining (it rode nicer than mine did on the bump stops), but it's a far cry from Luke's custom springs. If I was overlanding I'd much rather have his setup, the rig was much more thought-out than mine. And more than once you walked the Maiden right through terrain that Luke and I were trying to avoid.

Given the choice, I'd take your rig for rocks, his for camping, and mine for trips to the hardware store. :crazy: :haha:

Being in Korea time is very much all over the place

I'm startimg with a stock k5 blazer Silverado trim
350 small block tbi
Stock suspension and lift
700r4 transmission
Stock rear end

My bug out truck will be mainly focused on those weird scenarios where the government collapses and I need to get myself and family to safety and away from people
I like the idea of a BOV
I'm a conspiracy nut but I still want to build one
I plan on avoiding roads and heavy swamp areas
I'm looking to be able to handle snow
Soft sand rocks and vegetation
Areas of little to no traffic
A little mud is but I'm going to try and avoid that
As well as live off the truck for at least 4 days
Even though my k5 will probablu only go to remote camp grounds
I still wantit to survibe in a scenario that mostly wont happen
Any thoughts???
 
Avoid failure. Built for strength, make sure vital components are protected. Simple and effective. Spools instead of lockers. Big axles, smaller (ish) tires. Like 35's. Low lift, beef bumpers and sliders. Winch. Nothing all that special. You don't want unique parts that are hard to repair.

Simple but strong.

I would start on axles and lift.
