hi! i did a search to no avail. i just installed a tuff country 6" lift with zero rate 1" today on my 67 gmc (1971 frame) i had explorer es9000 shocks for 4" lift. with the 6" the shock at full extension doesn't even line up at the shock mount, too short. i know everyone has brands they prefer but, i want a shock that will perform as a dd and light wheeling. i have 35x12.5's. i am willing to switch brands if need be thanks for any input

does explorer make a shock for 6"-8" lift???? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I have had very good results with the Doetsch 8403's
They have 12.5" travel and cost about $35/ea thru summit racing. Im running them on my DD

I have Bilstien 5150's on my 89 K5 with a 6" lift and 35"s. They replaced Rancho's and what an improvement. The problem is they are kinda expensive ($99 each), but worth it. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

I'll 3rd the Bilstein 5150 comment. I'll be getting a set soon for my rig.

For the time being I'm running Gabrials part number G63438 all around. 12.5" travel and fit fine in my stock mounts in the rear and ford towers up front.

Pro Comp ES9000's 15" travel, $34.95 ea. Work great with the Ford towers.

I also run the 15" travel es9000. I am very happy with them and you dont have the cost of some of the other shocks. As for the 5150's they are probably a better shock but i have never run them. They are alot more money and that was money that i used for my shackle flip kit.

Check over on POR... Mike Schaffers shop was running a special over the on all Bilsteins. I think they were around $60ea. for the 5150's...

Another option is the 12" travel Gab's from Autozone. I ran them for a while and liked them. Do a search for a part number. They do bottom out a little in the stock mounts under close to full compression.

do anny of you guy know where the cheapest place to get these shocks is? the bilstiens 5150

anyone have part#'s for the 5150's or the explorer 15" travel i checked on the pro-comp site but couldn't find any application info at all thanks!
