4 ORD Bilsteins $380
4 Rancho $214

Add another charge for upgrading steering stabilizer.

Is the difference in the ride really worth that price for Bilsteins? I find it a bit difficult to shell out damn near $400 for something $214 can do.

My truck will see majority street with occasional forays into the AZ desert, for now.

More importantly I can easily use the other $200 od save on Rancho on other Blazer upgrades.

I was browsing around on what others have done, coil overs etc. for suspension, and honestly I just cant afford that. Id like to make the ride better without killing my wallet.

Wise for Rancho or just save longer to go bilstein?

I noticed a much better ride when I switched to Bilsteins compared to an off the shelf brand. All of my future builds will have them.

Is there any comparable to Bilstein, better than Rancho but not as expensive as Bilstein?

If not, I guess Ill have to drudge on with I have presently until I can afford Bilstein.

I had adjustable Rancho shocks at one time, and when I got tired of the ride in less than 2 years, I installed Bilstiens. They were better, even though my springs were the root of the problem. So I personally won't ever buy Rancho ever again.

What does ORD do to the shock that raises the, for example, amazon cost of $72 to ORD $95 a shock?

They are valved differently for fat GM trucks. If you get a chance, give them a call tomorrow and ask questions

They do make a noticeable difference

Fwiw, I will also be bucking the popular opinion and buying a Rancho or similar shock. My Blazer is a low speed wheeler so any ride quality difference will be lost on me.

Rancho makes a bilstien competitive shock. The rs7000. Same price but a tenneco product which is the parent company of all the monroe, skyjacker, superlift, procomp, bds, etc. It doesnt really matter what brand you go with. They are all essentially the same in their brackets.
The technology in the cheaper white body shocks is very not bad. It is sufficient for what you're doing.
There are also grades of white body shocks with different grades of design inside them.
It is the epitome of "you get what you pay for"

Free advice. Take it or dont lol.

I know that it's your truck and money, but mine sucked at low speeds too. Going slowly over little bumps in a lifted truck seemed odd to me. A big 4x4 should be able to handle little bumps without bouncing the crap out of me!

The RS9000 shocks didn't seem to change the rebound damping, just got stiffer on the compression. Lame..

I had Tuff Country's on a lifted IFS Tahoe, and they rode great. $200 all four. But I'd pony up for the Bilstein's over the Rancho's.....

huge difference in the stability with my new fox’s over the procomps in the rocks.

Is there any significant ride quality difference from the stock 5100's to the Fox brand shocks? Seems like the Fox is the next step above the Bilsteins.

Fox is legit but they come with a legit price tag. Last I checked it was around $160/shock for their cheapest. I know the silverado guys are obsessed with them because of how nice they ride but they usually go for their coil overs which are even pricier.

I went with a external reservoirs with a larger shaft so the 7100’s are more comparable to the Fox 2.0’s. Similar but I remember the shafts are a little beefier on the Fox’s, both can be rebuilt.

Ok, consensus seems to be, save longer and go Bilstein (from ORD not amazon) or Fox...

Probably have to wait until after Christmas, 3 kids and a Wife, I guess take priority... damn..

Thanks
