shock hoops

Will they really be able to let the steering shaft go through it like that??

Bubba you need to post more pics for us cuz you gots hoopz

Yes I am using you. Eff off :D:haha:

I believe with the right angle on mounting and the hoop it would work.

What would you like for pictures? about the only thing I can do is set them up and take pics possibly video. Mine are 1.75 diameter tube.

This weekend If I have time I plan on getting started on fish plates and possibly tacking the hoops

Man I feel like its gonna be close. Ill let you guys mess with that.

Im just gonna have my hoops vertical, then bend them at 30*-45* to just angle over the steering shaft.

45* will prolly be a little extreme. Ill prolly do a less crazy angle to keep the hoop farther from the tire, and use a shock tab like bubba got from ballistic fab. Thos tabs look aweome, and stick it out pretty far if you need it, or just angle them down a bit if ya dont.

Try the thing he just posted with the steering shaft going through the hoop like that. Like try different angles....

I just need to get some hoops made I guess...

I am worried about going too high and interfering with my brake lines and ac lines / blower box. Other wise even going straight up and then mounting a shock tab out looks like it would work.

You could also try mounting the front like I scribbled and mount the rear on a tube sticking out. Then angle the shock tabs to be parallel to the frame. That is my back up plan.

Only problem with the steering shaft running through the hoop is it would have to stick off the frame like 5 inches and have a offset of both legs.

What thickness of metal do you guys think should be used for the fish plates? What about the L shaped bracket for the bump?

That's why the fish plates are critical. Rosett welding the plates would help also.

Would keeping the bolts and having a plate behind the frame, so the frame is now sandwiched between supports be better than having the one plate with rosett welds?

That would work also. Only thing is it gives an area to become lose and work on the frame. But is better if you think you are going to do something different down the road.
