I am swapping out the OEM 12-bolt on my '73 for a 14 bolt out of a 2WD C20. I measured the spring perches and I think they're correct but not sure about shock mount locations. Somewhere in the back of my mind I think I remember hearing that 2WD and 4WD shock locations are different. Is that true? Is 3/4 ton different than half-ton?

I believe they are the same 2wd vs 4wd. 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are the same, 1 ton are narrower perches and opposite shock location

Shock mounts hang lower on 2wd axles.

Does hanging lower matter? Wouldnt seem to except robbing a little travel and a little ground clearance. Doesnt seem worth cutting and rewelding mounts, true?

If you are doing hardcore crawling, then it would be worth relocating. For a street rig or mild wheeler, i wouldnt worry about it.

Hanging lower is a problem if you're reusing the same shocks, that happened to me, I have 1" droop.
If you're getting new shocks it gives you more length to help with longer travel shocks
