i dont do much full on custom stuff mostly bolt on and good to go .

but i am digging a bit deeper these days and have a set of shocks to mount .

whats a good call for positions and such ?

ride height = were in travel ?
full drop haning on 2 post lift ?
should i focus more on up travel or down travel ?

k5 blazer setup with : leafs are 4" hd tuff country front and stock 8leaf (for now prob pull a few ) brand new packs 56" e-e length and 4" flip kit .

shocks will be ford towers up front on frame and hd stock replacments on dana 60 then stock rear frame side with ord brace kit and weld on hd mounts on 14ff axle .

monroe stock off the shelf shocks for a 99-16 f-350 rear with 13" travel to work with . and we will be having bump stops on this also .

Careful with the ford towers... the top mounting area is pretty narrow and will needed to be modified (not that you couldnt handle that). I originally went that way only to find out that my suspension travel wanted more space in that area as it cycled. I'd bias the suspension cycle to more droop unless it will be used as a dune machine or used in high speed shock travel. For full compression I only used the main leaf and then used my 2 post lift to stuff the wheels to full bump and set the shocks with 3/4" -1 of travel left. I plan (if I ever get back into my shop) to set the bump stops at that position.

just doing stock monroe shocks for a rear 99-16 ford f-350 . there 13" travel length .

we will be having bump stops on this rig .

Static droop is not a good measurement. That is the rig on the lift dropping out the suspension. You articulate more than you drop out with a solid axle. Best way to measure for shocks and bumps is to compress that corner. You do that by raising the opposite corner of the rig. If you wanna check compression on the driver front, you raise the passenger rear. If the driver rear, then raise the passenger front.

Then measure and set the shock where it needs to be. If your using bumps then it's easy . Set the bumps, then set the shock to have 1/2" of shaft showing at full bump. Remember to take into account the squish of the bumpstop. I like doing the shock leaned back a touch like brokenparts did above

Getting the shock set just right takes some extra time but is not difficult.

The other way to do it is disassemble the leaf pack. Use just the main leaf and some wood to replicate height of the leaf pack and then it's super easy to flex with with just a floor jack
