What is the consensus on shock mounting? Do you want the eye bolts parallel or rotated 90* from each other? Should the eye bolts be parallel or perpendicular to the axle? What is the effect on the bushings, wear on the shock, and binding?
My K5 has stock mounts where the eye bolts are parallel F & R and the rears are parallel to the axle and the fronts are off by like 45*.
Now if I inboard the rears they will need to move to perpendicular to the axle. As an intermediate step could I go parallel (stock) at the top and perpendicular (custom) at the bottom? If I go to a Furd shock tower the fronts will go either parallel or perpendicular to the axle depending on which one - but will be about 45* off the stock lower mount in either case.
Thoughts?
