does anybody know how much compression/drop ratio i'll need on a 10" TRAVEL shock. I'm thinking I should just split it in half ,5'' of comp. and 5" of drop. also what would be the minimum comp. distance I could go.(stock distance?) THANKS

measure from the bumpstop to the axle. take that number, add 1/2-3/4" to it and thats the compression of the shock. figure out where bottoming out on the shock is and add the compression needed and mount at that height.

Right on, that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the help, sometimes I make things more difficult than they are. I appreciate it. RICK

A mod of Big83's technique is that I measure from the axle to 1/2 way thru the bumpstop, and add 1/2" to that. Most bumps will compress to half their height when you hammer them hard.
