My 82 Jimmy has 4 shock mounts on the front, but only 2 shocks. Should there be 4 there? I see it was an option starting in 81 for quad shocks but I wasnt sure if all the trucks came with 4 mounts. Still trying to track down my wandering problem and not sure if this will help or not.

No just leave it two. It actually rides better this way. They were probably removed by a previous owner somewhere along the way.

Wandering steering check Tie-rod ends, ball joints, alignment, steering box cracks, rag joint.

Steering box is good and frame isnt cracked around it. I know how to check ball joints but not sure how to check tie rods.

Allignment could be off, the pass side tire is pretty worn on the inside but fine outside.

Whats a rag joint?

Checking TRE's is the same as Ball Joints. Just looking for slop. The rag joint is the rubber/metal piece where the steering shaft goes into the box. Search for the XJ swap on here to eliminate the rag joint with a Jeep Cherokee steering shaft.

Tire wear indicates alignment issues.
