Hey guys, well i did a search and couldn't find my answer exactly. I am in the market for some new shocks for my 87 K5 Blazer. My truck is a DD/trail rig. Use it in the mud, rocks and whatever i come across. Nothing crazy hard but i do like it to flex, while still feel good on road. The only shocks i've had are the cheapie ones that come with a rough country lift, and now a set of cheap pro comps i have had on the truck for a while but they have worn out. I have 6" superlift springs as well.

Are there real big differences in shock characteristics? I come from a moto/mountain bike background where there is a ton of suspension tuning with dampinging and rebound adjustments. Im sure there are shocks like that for our leave sprung trucks that cost a million dollars but do say 100dollar shocks make a ride difference? What is out there thats a step above my four for 100dollar shocks? Thanks guys!

I have the Rough country 9000 Nitrogen shocks they ride good on or off road. Pro comp ES 9000 are the same shock.
You can spend more on a adjustable or remote resevoir shock. But unless you are racing or having problems with shock fade I dont see why.

Might also check into Bilstein shocks they are good. Check with Superlift. IIRC Bilstein makes their shocks.

Everyone reccomends teh Bilstein 5100's as a good all around shock and a reasonable price.
