I've searched high and low on the rancho site for a old shock part number but to no avail.

So anyway, i am setting up shocks soon, and i need an 20" travel shock. I know it's ridiculous, but i've used my neighbors bobcat tractor and i have come out to a measurement of 27" compressed, and 49" fully drooped out.

is it possible to get the rancho 9000's that long anymore. My friend got his like four years ago, and we can't find them now. anyone have any ideas?

:pimp:

Hmm never seen those before. I wonder if its safe to use them on the front axle though? The rear end is simple but its the front I'm worried about. That and steering too.

What suspension setup? Where are you measuring?

We need to know where you are measuring from JJ.

I have 14" travel shocks on Horton, in fact I think the vast majority of us are using 14" travel shocks because its as long as you can go without spending major cash.

Where I had my rear shocks originally would have required an 19" travel shock for full travel so I moved it. Now my rear setup would actually work way better with 10" travel shocks maybe 12s

Show us pics please

I get this travel out of 14" travel shocks

Thats not quite maxed out on the droop side either it will go further, stuffed thats obviously as far as I can go

yup, I run pro comp 15" travel shocks with my front 52s. With long brake lines and a high angle driveshaft I still run out of both before my shocks. Im going to be switching to a 12-14" travel shock to get more uptravel.

sorry guys,

I am running 56's up front, and 64's out back. On the front I am measuring from the stock location and I used the full ford shock tower.

The Back end, I did some more measuring and if I inboard the shocks I can get away with 14-15" shocks.

So it's mainly the front I am worrying about.

you think if I cut the ford tower down some, then i can use shorter shocks?

How much does the suspension move? Probably not 20". You can bring the tower down and you could also move the shock mounts higher on the axle to use a more common shock.

Im using cut down ford towers in close to stock location. I cut mine down a bit too far but I originally cut them down for a truck with a taller suspension.

With my 15" travel shocks Ive got about 4 inches of up travel before they bottom out. Thats ok for now because any farther and my springs go negative but I really want to run shorter shocks and get some bump stops to limit the travel, bottoming out the shocks is bad for lots of things:whistle:

I would measure your travel, both up and down from ride height and get a shock that matches your travel. Then cut the ford tower and position it to fit the shock. Then bumps and straps to keep your suspension within the shock's range.

You'll have much better results then trying to make mismatched shocks and mounts like mine work.
