I just finished swapping my 12 bolt for a 14 bolt and I noticed the shocks (ProComp) were fully extended. my rig has a 4" lift and might see another 2" at the most in the future. what shocks do you guys recommend? what length/compression should I be looking for? I do not have access to a forklift or RTI, so if anyone has already done the flex work I would appreciate the info for both front and rear. I plan on wheeling it, the previous owner did not. it has 4" lift blocks in the rear (will be getting shackle flip in a few months) and 4" lift springs up front. I have an ORD swaybar disco that I'll be installing along with longer brake lines. just need some help with shock info, thanks.

Tom, I have a real nice dirt pile that I've used for that purpose on multiple rigs. If you want to swing by and take measurements, just give me a call. I don't recommend using "suggested" size for shocks based on lift size. It makes a big difference if you changed bumpstops or not, and what size tire/how much you're willing to cut, etc. It's my opinion that any rig getting new shocks should be either flexed and measured or, at least, measured for estimated length if you can't flex it enough.

thanks Chris - I'll call you this week to figure out a good day to do it. I'm running no shocks in the rear right now :eek1: but I don't drive it much. I still got the stock bumpstops so I'll need to figure out what to do with those. I'm still working on the front axle 6 to 8 lug conversion & swapping in extended brake lines. I'd like to get all that done before I flex it out. hopefully later this week, but probably sometime next week. thanks again.

Yep, what he said ^

:)

I found a concrete loading ramp behind a warehouse that works great for flex testing. Most of them these days have metal rails (probably to keep people like me from doing this) but you can occasionally find one where the side is open to put a wheel up on it!
