So yesterday, I decided to take off my wheels to clean and paint a little. I took off one of the shocks to put on new boots, and realized they arent easy to compress back to the mount. My friend helped me get it in, but wasnt easy! Is there an easier way to get this done? Or am I just a pansey??

Mount the top in first as pushing up is easier.

And also, go to the gym.

Just push slowly....they'll compress.

I'm a 160lb scrawnny mf'er, and i don't have any trouble.

Pshh, I knew I'd get it for this one. The shock is in an tight position if that makes a difference. I work out once in a while, but not recently. Smart arse!:D

lol it was too easy. I didn't have a problem with mine. I just attatched the top and pushed from the bottom like thatk30guy said. It works really well.

Oh and I work out.

dude i can do it, you better go to the gym..im 5 9 140 been to the gym once in my life...im 16, sorry to make you feel old hahahhaha

Jack up your rig by the frame to extend your suppension to full droop, then you wont have to compress it so far.

While I understand it may not be possible since I haven't tried it on my K5, in the dark ages we used a bottle jack or similar if necessary. (You'll notice no cracks about working out were used here...)

eat something, buddy! :wink1:.

that's a problem i never really thought about before, but for smaller guys, i guess it's legitimate. i just lay on my back and shove it in. floor jack or bottle jack sound like good options.

maybe stick a bar clamp on there to compress it if you have room. jack idea sounds good, though.

Easy solution...

I have a nice set outside that real super easy to compress. I'll even take a loss and make an even trade for your old hard shocks :D :haha: :haha:

Attach the top first.
Lay in a position so you can get two hands on the shock
Push it up until it is compressed too far (shock eye a few inches above the shock mount)
Guide the shock down into position with one hand while inserting the bolt with the other.

Piece of cake.
