Hi Everyone,

Looking for recommendations on what shocks to put on my 1987 K10 Long Bed pickup. It's a daily driven truck, not much off-roading use.

Any suggestions?

If it sways, has soft suspension, or gets loaded a ton and sways...find something gas charged like Bilsteins.

If it drives like a skateboard already, finding non-gas charged shocks might be better.

What does the forum think?

Set off of the shelf Bilsteins would be perfect.

Yeah, I figured the overwhelming recommendation is going to be for Bilsteins but is there any sense in going gas charged for something that already rides like a dump truck? Might be counterintuitive

52/56 on Bender is soft. Fronts are valved slower with 7100s and the rear is a touch quicker with 5125s. I will go 7100s for the rear once its running again to help with sway. (Also rears are probably tired)

Honestly, for a stock truck some Bilstein 4600’s or KYB Monomax’s would be great.

38 year old springs are probably soft now.

I don't think gas charge has any effect on the ride. It's just to keep the oil from foaming, IIRC. The few pounds of force from the gas is tiny compared to 1500lbs on the spring.
