I was poking around and didn't see any real opinions on the subject. What shocks do people like/run. I have a set of Rancho 5000's, and I'm sure they're something the PO got used from a junkyard. :rolleyes: Just wondering what people liked, cost, etc. Thanks! :D
 
You will find that lots of people run the cheapo Gabriels from Auto Zone or similar stores. I will be running the BBCS shocks from PolyPerformance when I get the $$
 
I always thought shocks improved ride quality and performance a lot...hmm. I might just go with some more rs 5000's then
 
depends on how much coin you have...

poor as hell: gabriels from your local parts store.

kinda poor: Doetsch Tech DT8000s are good and $35-ish a shock

working class: Poly Perfs BBCS-15s are very nice at $100-ish a shock

daddy warbucks: How about them supa-bling-bling new all-aluminum Bilsteins?

Im gonna run bilsteain 5150's 100 a pop, resivior and 14" of travel. Overall ive read really good things and think they will work real well;):D
 
I'd love to run some Bilsteins, but I know I don't have $400 laying around. :( I'm somewhere in between the poor and working class. I've never heard of those Doetsch Techs. Any good?
 
I like my DT8000s. They are much softer than the Rancho 5000s I used to run... and they come in long-travel lengths. In my experience, most sub-$75 shocks are pretty much the same with respect to quality/durability.. some are just stiffer/softer than others. Once you get close to a hundy bones you can get good monotubes etc. that are a real step up from the cheapies.

I got some Pro Comp ES3000 on sale (cuz I is po') and they work fine. But mine isn't a DD, so I don't give a rat's ass how it rides.
 
Rancho RS9000's. My buddy has a set, and the adjustability makes them ride nice and work well. Best bang for the buck IMO.

I was wondering about those 9000's...to me it seems like it would be a pain to adjust them whenever I wanted a different damping.

Hey Readymix I was wondering how will you run the bbcs shocks in the rear.I called poly and they come with a metal sleeve and wont fit with 5/8 bolts.Reason I ask is I have same set up from kert and I want to run the bbcs.I was told if I remove the sleeve it will destroy the bushings. By the way great product kert:bow:
 
I call BS on it ruining the bushing.

Some form of confusion

Plus if it does ruin the bushing I will buy new ones. They told me on the phone that they would accept a 5/8" bolt as is. SOmeone was lied to, let me know if you get them before I do.
 
why isn't a 1/2" bolt enough again? I've never had a shock bolt failure with 1/2" grade 8s. Unless the shock bottoms out (and it won't in a well designed suspension!) there should never be enough force on a shock bolt to break it... especially if mounted in doubler shear.
