Shocks

Well I am getting old, and I have read a lot of posts on RS-5000 Rancho shocks about how unforgiving they are. I have these in-stalled on my 84 K5 and I would like some suggestions on somthing for an old man with a broken back.

32 11.50 15
Front end being re-built Monday

84 K5, Crate 350, 700r tranny.

mayeb the in cab air adjust is somehting you should consider, the 5000's aren't adjustable,,but the rancho 9012's are,and with the in cab air and compressor,,you can make your ride softer or firmer according to the conditions in which you are driving.the shocks themselves can be set by crawling under the truck and just turning a knob on the shock itself,it's just easier to do it in the cab,and a lot less dirtier. even on stock springs,,these may help some. check into it.
anyone know of any other less expensive shock's from rancho or whoever that would be adjustable and maybe cheaper ??

I have RS5000's as well. They'll be gone soon I hope. One thing that did help the ride was greasable spring eye bushings though...combined with better shocks I think that would make the ride tolerable.

I've heard good things about Doiechtech (not sure about spelling) . If you don't wheel much Edelbrock IAS sound good for pavement pounding.

I have heard the Edelbrocks are great on-road. I have also heard excellent things about Trailmaster SSV's. I think those will be my choice. I also like Blistiens but they are a bit spendy along w/ the 9000's

I run the doestech shocks on my Jimmy. With those and the tuffcountry springs front and rear it rides like a caddy.

I switched from RS5000 to :<a target="_blank" href=http://www.gabriel.com/>Gabriel LT shocks</a>
They ride quite a bit smoother. My k5 handles better too. They are great on washboard roads.
