been reading about dual shocks and how half people here like them and how the other hate them.. i have a stock blazer and wanted to replace its shocks, what is the best brand/model to install and will work great and last for years..

my main use of the blazer is on the street and offroading on sand

I have a 1988 K5 and just replaced all 6 shocks with some KYB units off of RockAuto. Then I took off on a 3000 mile drive from CA to AK where I encountered some of the worst roads in my life due to frost heaving under the roadway. The shocks performed well considering they were more of the bottom of the line shocks in terms of quality. I'd say go with the ones recommended at each corner (4 front, 2 rear) or just 4 good quality replacements, one at each corner.

In all seriousness, you might be in a position to use a bigger shock like a 2.5" With potential high ambient air temps and lots of repeated suspension cycles a 2.0" shock is marginal for heat tolerance and damping force generation. Fortunately a good 2.0 from one of the big names can heat up, get soft and then cool off and be OK but when your damping gets soft because they are hot it doesn't matter if you want to keep going. The extra piston size and oil volume of a larger shock will let you play longer and harder. Good shocks are a worthwhile place to spend money for desert dwellers.
