I hope someone can help. I have a 1974 chevy blazer with a 4 inch lift. Going to replace my springs and shocks. My question is which is better shock hydro or nitro shocks. I will not being offroading or towing. Just daily driving

If you are not using it off road at all, you won’t be able to tell the difference. Paying for nitrogen charged shocks would be a waste of money.

LMGTFY.
The reason nitrogen gets used in shocks is because of the lack of moisture. Dried air could be used for the same reason. If a shock filled w/ 'normal' is cycled fast and often enough, it will begin to heat up. Moisture will expand and change the dynamic of the shock (basically increase spring rate).

Thx 4 the reply

I used to have 4" Tuff Country springs on my '70 with Rancho adjustable shocks. Terrible ride, too stiff of spring rate, not enough rebound control in the shocks. They got more compression damping when turned up, but never enough rebound damping. I went to generic spec Bilstiens which helped some, but the real fix was custom springs from ORD. Yes, they are a good amount more money, but I quit hating the ride of my truck. The roads aren't smooth enough to put up with really stiff springs, IMO. I would rather pay more money and enjoy my truck. Someday I will buy some newer Bilstiens and get the application specific ones from ORD.

My truck has 4' lift with ORD custom rear leaf springs with rough country (I think) from lift springs, along with ORD bilsteins all around. Rides like a Cadillac, kind of hahahahah

Prio to this I had old worn leaf springs and aged Rancho shock, rode ok but uncomfortable. Not anymore.

since I have the shackle flip I got zero rate rears and I couldn't be happier. They do cost quit a bit more than other springs but.... that's your call

The 5125s from ord are a nice valving and do ride nice with a well matched spring.

Just for the record, I have blown up every Rancho shock I've owned. Another vote for the Bilsteins from ORD. I didn't kill them, and I was only running one shock where there was supposed to be two.

Thx 4 the reply. I guess I'm going to have to save up for some bilsteins shocks
