hello everyone i am in the market for a k5 blazer i currently have a 1994 gmc 1500 4x4 and have moved to south dakota for the winter for work and will be comming back to colorado after but am worried the gmc wont get me through the winters here in s dakota =.ive allways wanted a k5 and now am going to buy one have some questions about the best poss stock one to buy.the problem im having now is the drive train that is changed between 1987-1988 as far as the transsfer case option 208-vs-241 which one is better and why -i am lokoing in the future to do trails and small rock crawling but for now want a tank for the big snow drifts.so which is better or what are some pros and cons on the 208-241 xfer cases

The 241 is similar in design to the 208 but basically more stout in every way.

The newer K5 you can get the better but as long as you get a fuel injected ('87 up) truck you'll be good.

I have a '91 with TBI and love it, but watch out for rust on these things!!!! Check the rockers and crawl under it and check the crossmembers for the floor, also check where the seatbelts mount to the floor and b pillar, only thing that was holding my seatbelts in was some rust and the carpet!!! Tailpans rust out bad under the tailgate really bad also. You would have never thought mine was as bad as it was, wasn't until we started poking with a screw driver that we found it all. Mine only had some rust bubbles on the rockers, but it was shot, almost like it rusted from the inside out. These are great trucks just do your homework before you buy... There's some rust free ones down south guys pick up cheap still, find a rust free one and you'll save yourself time and money down the road.
