I have been wanting a welder cart for a while but havent had time to get metal and i cant see spending $60-100 on a cheap paper thin cart. So I was driving to my house this morning and saw a blank-mart shopping cart in the ditch. I stopped and got it, a hour later after i eyeballed all the cuts with the saw and welded it together bam welding cart. dollar rattle can job and it looks even better. Maby I will start selling them on ebay.

Cool idea but was that a shopping cart for their "special" customers or did you modify it a lot??? Even looking at what may have been the base cart it looks small, short or something.

It was a full size shopping cart with a plastic basket from kmart. the tray for the welder is the back section of the cart where another cart would push into it. I basically cut every dimension down and just put it together where ever it looked like a piece would fit I didnt just make a mini shopping cart and i didnt add any other metal than what was originally there. I think I have like a foot piece of metal left over from it If you look close you can see gaps i nthe metal where i sectioned the cart.

Im 100% sure it did, I have seen it for 2 months sitting in the ditch and said why not. The store where it was from was 4 miles away i wonder how it got there. kinda weird.

Yah, cool idea, except for the shopping cart theft.

CA rules on that are pretty strict i think, some track carts by markings on the sides of the wheels.....

Tonight news at Ten:

A Rash of shopping cart thefts beleived to be linked to a gang of fabricators. Tonight on Channel 4!

More like:
"Homeless have no place to put their sh!t" Only on 20/20

More likely:
"Obama starting new campaign to make sure everyone has their own shopping cart."

We had a chain of grocery stores (Albertson's) that was bought out by SaveMart and when they did I noticed hundreds of the Albertson's carts sitting behind the store so we asked and they said we could have one since they had all new ones coming in.... After a little :hack::grind: it's now my pressure washer cart. :)

Somebody needs to start a thread showing all the welding carts people have fabbed up over the years and how they did it. I desperately need a welding cart myself.

Nice, here's mine made with a shopping cart.

If I were to do it again, I'd scoot the welder to the back of the cart and mount the bottle up front. I have the side cut out so I can change wire with the welder still in the cart.
