Short oil filter

I am getting ready to swap a 454 bored & stroked to a 489 into my '74 pickup truck. I took the oil filter adapter/cooler from my 383ci and put it on the big block with a wide Milodon oil pan. Now the stock oil filter won't fit cause its too long. Is there a shorter oil filter that will work?

There are basically 3 different sized oil filters you could use. Another option and maybe even a better option for you would be a remote mount oil filter kit.

A Car Quest 84099 will work just fine. It's for a Vortec 7.4l and 8.1l if you want to look it up by application.

X2, The 7.4L Vortec in my K3500 uses that short filter to clear the front d-shaft.

Yup and the PF1218 is the longer one.
