Shortbed pickup fuel tank question

I am on the opposite end of the country from my truck right now, so I can't look at it.

Is the fuel line/sending unit entry point into the tank accessible from the top if I unbolt and move the bed, or is it under the cab? The truck is an '83 shortbed fleetside with dual 16-gallon sidesaddle tanks.

About 2/3s of it is under the cab. You can easily remove the fuel lines with the bed off. But if you want to remove teh sending unit, you will definately have to drop the tank.
