I just ordered a set of Heddman shorty headers for my K5. I couldn't find a part number in the order book at O'Reilley's for my 90 K5 so I ordered a set for an 87 K10. Essentially the frame and whatnot is the same so they should work right? They won't be in till after the 1st of the year so if anyone knows that they won't fit, it'll give me time to cancel the order. Thanks in advance y'all!

I think as long as you ordered them for an 87 and earlier you'll be ok. The 88-95 will also work with a slight mod to the frame (at least for a 76 blazer) and the 02 sensor would need to be relocated into the exhaust pipe just below the collector. The 88-95 headers put the 02 sensor aiming right at the frame on the old body stlye trucks.

Oh man. I completely forgot about the O2 sensor. Maybe I can get the exhaust shop to mount it up for me when to get them to route my exhaust. :doah:

Headers for an 87 K10 will have an 02 bung in them already since 87 was the first year of TBI. Not sure which direction it will point but since 87 is still old body style it should be perfect.

Awesome. That's what I was hoping. I knew that 87 was TBI and that's what I was going by when I ordered thinking everything should fit just the same. The O2 sensor just slipped my mind but my mind is at ease now. :D

The only problem i see is that i highly doubt any manufacturer makes a header for one year only. I'll bet the headers say something like 73-87 not just 87 specific.

Yeah, but I knew 87 was the year TBI was introduced in the OBS GM's. I figured that would be as close as I could get and if anything maybe I could hopefully make it work. :D

I got the Heddman's for $370 but I just found a set of Pacesetter's for $221 so I think I'm going to try those. They are even for my application as well and it says I don't have to modify anything so we'll see. :D
