My long tubes are in the way.. Hitting the drive shaft. Anyways what is everyone running for shorty headers? Im too lazy and tipsy to search. Are ball sockets worth it?
I run Sanderson's on my 454, nice, tight and out of the way. When shopping be sure to look for THICK flanges, this is the key to avoiding gasket problems.
I do love these shorty's over long tubes. In the past the long tubes and dual exhaust were always in the way, now I run single exhaust down the left side away from everything. Sooooo much less clutter! If you're interested there are pics in my build thread (see sig).
i have the edelbrock shorties with the socket end. they fit good. pain in the butt for spark plug changes though. have to get under the vihicle for half of em. other than that g2g.
Ball socket collectors beat flange connects hands down. No leaks, no gaskets, and you can adjust the next pipe slightly as well. Other than that, get whichever one has the thickest flange for the head flange.
I run Sanderson "Hot Rod" shorty headers. They're really nice and spendy but I found them on Craigslist for cheap so I went with them. I'm happy with them and they made routing the exhaust where I wanted it much easier.
I think I'll have to price them out. I dont want to spend more than 200, the cheaper the better actually. Then I would have to redo my exhaust but I'm okay with that.
Sanderson's start ~$250 (sbc) for bare finish. Mine (bbc) were $350 (bare) + freight. They're very expensive but the workmanship and fit were outstanding, mine required ZERO mods to install.
When i plugged the O2 bung, i ground all the way through the head of the plug, and no issues so far. Had them off when i did the motor swap, and the plug is just where i left it.
For a budget minded set of shorty's, i have no complains.
