Hi guys
another question from the old World, here it comes from Switzerland.
As there are barely ANY K5's on the market, sometimes it still spills some on the surface...

so, watch this rig and tell me what ya think about buyin' it... the amount the guy asks is about 10-12'000 USD, car is from July 1979 with about 60'000miles on the hour.

to me it looks very clean...it's from a guy running a garage.

thanks for your support!

Spending $10,000 - $12,000 USD is a pretty penny. Most of us here would love to dump that into our rigs. Have you considered buying a cheaper vehicle in the US (3,000-5,000) and then factoring the cost for shipping, reg/title, papers, etc?

It might be cheaper that route and you could have more of a selection. Possibly money left over for upgrades and parts??

I will admit that form the pictures that rig looks pretty clean. I imagine that you don't see them like that everyday in CH.

Looking at the condition, I would say its worth it. They don't get much cheaper for rigs like that in Canada, and they are a lot more common. It would probably be a pain in the ass to get one shipped.

I think finding out what his purpose for the rig is. I wouldn't want the 'wheel one that clean. If it is to be used as a daily driver, well ok then. I couldn't see one, even shipping it across the sea, out weighing buying one here in the States. as opposed to spending that much in CH.

Importing to CH isn't as easy as you'd think, there are lot of expenses.
He's better off getting one from there.
Unless he knows someone that always ships stuff from the US and can help him out then maybe.
I know a guy here that ships cars, parts & stuff to Germany all the time, maybe he can help, I am guessing he can get it to Germany and then drive it to Switzerland.

imo its not original enough, and it has been painted and detrimmed. its nice but not that nice.

well guys, it's not that easy as you think! importing US cars to CH is a pain in the ass, as you need to go thru a lot of things, especially technical control by law!

- no special tires/rims combinations
- no loud exhaust systems
- no rust whatsoever!!!
- and and and...

means, the car has to be kind of like new over here to pass the control, meaning: no control, no number plates, no driving!

tires cannot be wider than the body shape of the car, all lights and electrical systems have to work, pretty much the car should be original.

this needs a lot of specialist and lots of money, so it's better to buy a car here in Switzerland which has passed the controls already. you need to show the car every 2 years to the technical control. if you then change things on the car in between and the police controls you once and it's not written in the car papers, then you're in trouble again, get a fine and they will take away the number plates right out which means no more driving.

law over here for cars is much much more serious than it is in the US, so be happy to have quite some tolerance in what you do on your cars...this is just dreaming for me.

i can only drive my rig with the big tires because i have a special "dealers plate" which allows you to run around with every car...otherwise i couldn't even drive my rig...

this is mostly the reason why people don't import cars from the us, as they have to invest a lot afterwards in bringing the car to "swiss law" conditions...

WOW!!!

Oh my that would suck...I looked into shipping a car from Japan to the USA there was some laws and stipulations but nothing that serious. I wish you the best of luck!!!
